Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian left for Spain on December 16. In Madrid, the Armenian FM met with his Spanish counterpart Trinidad Jiménez García-Herrera. During the meeting, the Spanish FM expressed readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation in different spheres. In this context, the two diplomats emphasized the importance of reciprocal meetings and intensification of political dialogue. The talks addressed various aspects of Armenia-EU relations, specifically simplification of visa regime.The ministers agreed that the organization of direct flights between the two countries would give fresh impetus to bilateral ties. To this effect, they agreed to sign an agreement on air services. Trinidad Jiménez accepted an invitation to visit Armenia in the first half of 2011. Before the meeting, Edward Nalbandian and Trinidad Jiménez signed an agreement on double taxation avoidance.On the same day, Minister Nalbandian visited the Spanish Parliament to meet with representatives of political forces. In the evening, the Armenian official had a meeting with representatives of Armenian community in the Armenian Embassy in Spain.
